A hot tub is a big, heavy shell wrapped around plumbing and a pump, and most of the ones we hear about in Seaside sit on a concrete pad or a deck against the back wall of an older home, behind a narrow side gate. They rarely come out in one piece.

The usual plan is simple. Your electrician disconnects the power, and you drain the tub. We cut the shell into manageable sections, carry them through the gate and load the trailer. Send photos of the tub, the path and the gate, and we will tell you what we can do.

What we take with the tub

  • The shell and cabinet

Acrylic, fiberglass and wood or composite skirting, cut into sections.

  • Pumps and equipment

The heater, pump and jets that come out with the cabinet once they are disconnected.

  • Covers and steps

Heavy covers, lifters and any small steps stacked next to it.

  • Deck pieces

Platform boards or a small deck left behind once the tub is gone, if that is part of the job.

Typical hot tub jobs around Seaside

  • Spa behind a narrow side gate

An older single-story house has a spa on the back patio, and the side gate is about the width of a door. We cut it in sections and carry each out through the gate.

  • Deck-mounted tub

A tub sits on a small raised deck. After the electrician disconnects it, we cut it up on site so the deck boards are not damaged.

  • Inherited spa nobody wants

A new owner has a cracked tub in the yard. They send a photo, we walk the access with them by text, then haul it.

Where it goes

Cut-up shell pieces and wood skirting go to an approved recycling or disposal site, and metal parts to scrap. The main public landfill in the area is ReGen Monterey off Highway 1, which our Monterey dump guide describes. A spa is too bulky to move in one load unless it is cut first.

Leave any chemicals out of the tub. Pool and spa chemicals are household hazardous waste, and ReGen Monterey has a drop-off for them.

Hot tub disposal Seaside and spa removal Seaside: where the tub ends up

Hot tub disposal Seaside owners ask about comes down to where the pieces go. On a tight lot with no room for a lift, the tub is cut into sections on site and carried out by hand. The steel frame, pump and heater come out first so the metal can go to recycling where possible. The shell, skirting and foam that cannot be recycled are hauled to the proper local facility, usually ReGen Monterey off Highway 1 north of Marina.

Spa removal Seaside homeowners request ranges from a freestanding acrylic spa on a patio to a plug-in model on a deck, and sometimes a swim spa. A swim spa is longer and heavier, so send photos and measurements and we will say plainly whether it is a job we can take. A spa set into concrete is demolition work, which we do not do.

Seaside FAQ: Hot Tub Removal

Do I need to drain the tub first?

Yes, please. A drained tub is much lighter and safer to cut. If you cannot, tell us ahead.

Who disconnects the power?

You or an electrician; we do not do electrical work. We start once the tub is no longer wired.

Can you take a tub through a narrow side gate?

Usually, because we cut it into sections. Send the gate width and a photo.

Do you remove the concrete pad too?

No. We take the spa and its equipment, not the slab.

Can you remove a hot tub that is on a deck?

Yes, though we may need to cut it in place. Mention the deck in your message.

What if I only have a small inflatable spa?

Still fine. Send a photo and we will quote it like any other load.
