What furniture do you take?

Got a mix? We take furniture together with boxes, appliances and general junk in the same trip, priced by how much space it takes in the truck.

How does couch removal work?

  1. Text us a photo. Show the piece and tell us where it is: upstairs bedroom, garage, backyard.
  2. Get your price. You’ll know the cost before we start.
  3. We carry it out. Our crew protects doorways and walls, and takes pieces apart when they won’t fit. Sectionals come apart at the joints, and sleeper sofas and recliners have their heavy metal mechanisms handled carefully.
  4. Donate, recycle, dispose. Pieces in good shape go to donation when a local charity will take them. Metal frames are recycled. Everything else goes to a licensed transfer station.
  5. Quick sweep. We clean up where the furniture sat before we leave.

How much does furniture removal cost?

We price by how much room your items take in the truck, plus how hard they are to get out. A single couch from a ground-floor living room costs less than a sectional coming down two flights of stairs. Things that change the price:

Can my city’s bulky pickup take my couch?

Sometimes, and it’s worth checking first. Every city runs its program differently. Here’s what the official programs allow:

CityBulky pickup for furnitureSource
San JoseFree curbside junk pickups with no limit on how many, including sofas and mattresses. Items must come from the home and be at the curb. Appointments are usually within about two weeks.City of San Jose
Gilroy2 free curbside pickups a year, up to 2 items each. Each item under 6 feet and 200 lb, light enough for one person to move.Recology
Morgan HillNo free curbside pickup for single-family homes. Instead you get vouchers for free trips to the San Martin Transfer Station, so you haul it yourself.City of Morgan Hill
Santa ClaraOn-call pickup costs $171.45 for up to three bulky items.City of Santa Clara
CampbellUp to 3 free on-call pickups a year, with up to 2 furniture or appliance items each, 150 lb or less.City of Campbell
Hollister & San Benito County2 free pickups a year, up to 2 bulky items each.Recology San Benito
Watsonville1 free pickup a year, up to 3 items, nothing over 100 lb or larger than 4′ × 5′ × 4′. Lawn furniture isn’t accepted.City of Watsonville
Santa Cruz4 free on-call pickups a year for single-family account holders, 1 bulky item per pickup.City of Santa Cruz
Salinas1 free bulk collection a year: 2 large items, 10 bags, or up to 2 cubic yards.City of Salinas
When it’s easier to call us: your free pickups are used up, the piece is too big or heavy for the limits, it’s still inside the house, you’re in an apartment or business that doesn’t qualify, or you don’t want to wait for a pickup date.

Can I take a couch to the dump myself?

Yes, if you have a truck or trailer. Expect a per-item fee. A few local examples from official rate sheets:

Cover your load with a tarp. Uncovered loads can mean a littering ticket on the road and an extra fee at the gate. Planning a trip? See our San Jose dump guide and Hollister dump guide.

Do you donate furniture?

When a piece is clean and in good shape, we try to get it to a local charity instead of the landfill. Whether it’s accepted is up to the charity, and stained, broken or pet-damaged pieces usually aren’t. Metal frames and springs go to scrap recycling. More on how we recycle and donate.

Furniture removal FAQs

Do I need to move the couch outside first?

No. We carry it out from wherever it is, including upstairs bedrooms, garages and backyards.

Will you take apart a sectional or a bed?

Yes. We take furniture apart when it won’t fit through a doorway or stairwell.

Can you take just one item?

Yes. Single items are fine. Adding other junk on the same trip is usually cheaper than booking separately.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. If the items are outside or in an open garage, we can work while you’re away and send photos when it’s done.

Do you take furniture with bed bugs?

Tell us up front. Infested items need to be wrapped and handled differently, and many facilities and charities won’t accept them, so we’ll talk it through before the job.

City programs and facility fees were checked against official sources in October 2026. Programs, limits and prices change, so confirm with your city before scheduling.
