Santa Cruz backyards are small and often wedged between fences, redwoods and a neighbor's wall. A spa that went in years ago may sit behind a narrow side gate, up a few steps or on a deck that has seen better days. Getting it out in one piece is rarely an option.

We send a crew that cuts the shell and cabinet into pieces small enough to carry, then loads them and takes them away. Text a photo of the tub and the route out to (408) 310-0246. Tell us if there is a locked gate or a steep driveway. The quote is free and the price is upfront.

What a hot tub job covers

  • Old spa and shell

Acrylic or fiberglass tubs, whole or cut into sections.

  • Cabinet and frame

Wood or synthetic skirting and the base underneath.

  • Equipment

Pumps, heaters and plumbing, once the power is off.

  • Deck and pad leftovers

Broken steps, a small deck section or the concrete edge pieces that come up with the tub.

Typical hot tub jobs

  • Spa behind a narrow gate

A Live Oak yard has a four-person spa and a 30-inch side gate. The crew cuts it where it sits and carries it out in sections.

  • Rotting deck and tub

A Prospect Heights tub has sunk into a soft deck. We take the tub and the broken boards.

  • Moving out of a rental

A tenant near Pleasure Point inherited an unused spa. The owner wants the yard clear before listing.

Draining it and where the pieces go

Do not empty a spa into the street, gutter or storm drain in the City of Santa Cruz. The city says pool and spa water belongs in the sanitary sewer, for example through a cleanout. Please drain before the crew arrives so the shell is light enough to cut and carry.

Once it is cut, the shell and cabinet go with construction and demolition waste to a suitable site, and the metal from motors and frames is separated for recycling where we can. The Resource Recovery Facility on Dimeo Lane is for city residents only, so we handle the drop-off.

Santa Cruz FAQ: Hot Tub Removal

Do I need to drain the hot tub before you arrive in Santa Cruz?

Yes, if you can. A full spa is too heavy to cut. Drain it to the sanitary sewer through a cleanout, not to the street or storm drain.

What if the electric is still connected?

Have the power shut off at the breaker first. If it is hard-wired, disconnecting it falls to an electrician before we begin.

Can you remove a tub on a raised deck?

Often, yes. Send a photo of the deck and the route down, and we will check the access.

Will you take the concrete pad?

Not always. Tell us what is under the tub and we will say what we can handle.

Do you haul it whole?

If it fits through the gate, sometimes. More often we cut it up to move it safely.

Can I sell the spa instead?

If it works, you might. If not, we remove it and recycle the metal where possible.
