A house in Scotts Valley may hold decades of living: a garage full of tools, a hall closet of linens, a kitchen that still smells like Sunday dinner. Clearing it is physical work and it is also personal, and most families start without a plan.
We help you build one. We walk the home with you or your representative, learn what stays and what leaves, and then carry the rest out. Keepsakes remain with the family, usable items head toward donation where possible, and what is left goes to a permitted facility. Call or text for a free quote with upfront pricing, in your own time.
How an estate cleanout unfolds
- A first conversationWe learn about the house, the timeline and who is making decisions.
- Sort in three pilesKeep, donate or discard. You mark what stays; we handle the lifting.
- Haul and leave it broom-cleanEverything leaves in one or more visits, and the home is left swept and ready.
Probate and clearing a home after a loved one passes
When a loved one passes, the house often sits while the family works through paperwork, travel and grief. A probate cleanout or a house cleanout after death does not need to happen in a rush, but it does tend to follow a timeline set by the executor or the family. We work around that schedule and will meet you at the property when it suits everyone.
The process stays simple: you decide what is kept, we help sort what can be donated, and we haul the rest. One family member can direct the work from afar by phone or photo if others live out of the area. We do not give legal advice, and we leave the paperwork questions to the people who handle them.

Garage cleanout Scotts Valley: clearing the garage during an estate or downsizing job
In many Scotts Valley houses the garage holds the most: workbenches, holiday bins, camping gear for the Santa Cruz Mountains and boxes nobody has opened since the last move. A garage cleanout Scotts Valley families plan alongside an estate or downsizing job is easier when the garage goes first, because it gives the crew room to stage everything else. If the garage is the only space that needs clearing, see our garage cleanouts page.

Where the contents go
We separate usable furniture and household goods for donation where possible, metal for recycling and the rest for permitted disposal. Family-requested items stay with the family. Paint and household chemicals found in a garage should go to the county’s hazardous waste program, which is free to Scotts Valley residents with proof of residency; we cannot haul those.
Self-haul would mean the county’s Buena Vista Landfill or Ben Lomond Transfer Station with proof of residency, but a whole home is rarely practical to move that way, and that is the reason most families call us.
Scotts Valley FAQ: Estate Cleanouts
What is the difference between an estate cleanout and a regular cleanout?
An estate cleanout is usually the full contents of a home, sorted for keepsakes and donation, often on a timeline set by a family or an executor.
Can an executor or family member direct the work from far away?
Yes. We can coordinate by phone, text and photo, and wait for confirmation before removing anything uncertain.
Do you help with probate cleanouts?
We handle the physical side: sorting, carrying and hauling. We do not give legal advice, and the legal steps stay with the people who handle them.
Will you sort for valuables?
You decide what is kept. If we come across papers, photos or jewelry we set them aside for you.
How long does it take?
Many homes are done in a day or two. A larger house with a garage and shed takes longer, and we tell you what to expect in the quote.
What does it cost?
Free quote based on photos, with upfront pricing. The price follows the space the load takes.
