Appliances are heavy, awkward and often stuck in places built for much smaller models. In Monterey that means a refrigerator wedged in an Old Town galley kitchen, a washer in a damp New Monterey garage, or a water heater in a tight Skyline Forest closet. Moving one by hand down a steep driveway is how people hurt their backs.
We do the carrying. Send a photo of the appliance and the path out, and we reply with a free quote. We handle old fridges, freezers, stoves, dishwashers, washers, dryers, microwaves and water heaters. When a unit is being replaced, we can take the old one while the new one is delivered.
Appliances we take out
- Refrigerators and freezers
Empty them first and unplug a day ahead. Units with refrigerant need proper handling, and we take care of that.
- Washers and dryers
Stackables, front-loaders and top-loaders, including ones still hooked up if you ask.
- Ranges, ovens and dishwashers
Gas appliances should be capped by a pro first; electric ones we can pull.
- Water heaters and small units
Water heaters, microwaves, window ACs and dehumidifiers.
Where appliances go after pickup
Metal is the point. ReGen Monterey, north of Marina on Del Monte Blvd., has a free recycling drop-off that takes scrap metal and water heaters, and its landfill accepts appliances, with refrigerant units handled separately. We route appliances there so the steel is recycled instead of buried.
Working appliances may find a second home. Last Chance Mercantile on the ReGen site does not take large or refrigerant appliances, so a donated washer usually goes elsewhere. Refrigerators and TVs also carry special handling charges with the city hauler’s bulky service, which is why a flat quote from us can be simpler. See the dump guide.

- Fridge swap
A new refrigerator arrives for a Casanova Oak Knoll kitchen. The old one has to leave when the delivery truck comes, and we ask for the date up front.
- Garage washer and dryer
A damp New Monterey garage has an old pair rusting in the corner. We wheel them out through the side gate.
- Water heater upgrade
A homeowner has a new tank installed and the old one sits by the Skyline Forest driveway. We haul it to the metal recycling.

Monterey FAQ: Appliance Removal
Do you remove refrigerators in Monterey?
Yes. Empty and unplug it first. We handle the refrigerant side by taking it to a facility that processes it.
Can you haul an appliance that is still connected?
Simple hookups, yes. Gas lines and plumbing work should be done by a qualified tradesperson before we lift.
Is a dead appliance different from a working one?
Not for pickup. Working units may be donated, if a site takes them, and broken ones go to metal recycling.
Will you take an AC unit or dehumidifier?
Yes, small cooling units are part of the job. Photo them and we quote with the rest.
Can you remove an appliance from a second-floor Monterey apartment?
Yes, we carry down stairs. Mention the stair count and any tight turns.
Why not use the city bulky pickup for a fridge?
You can ask, but the city hauler lists refrigerators with special handling charges and limits the number of items. We give one price for the whole job.
