Your weekly garbage and recycling carts belong to the city’s franchise hauler, and that service is the right tool for everyday trash. Trash removal in San Jose becomes our job when the cart is full, the load is bigger than a cart, or the stuff is not cart material.
Think bags stacked up after a move, a garage of old boxes, broken furniture, carpet and drywall scraps from a remodel, or years of yard clutter. We do one-time haul-offs and cleanouts. We do not replace your weekly pickup, and we do not haul hazardous waste.
Your cart, the city's Junk Pickup, or Junk Gone?
- Everyday trash and recycling
Your cart, collected by the franchise hauler. Call your hauler about missed pickups or rules.
- A few large items at the curb
The city's free Junk Pickup for San Jose residents, booked through 311, for the items on its list.
- Overflow, indoor piles and cleanouts
Junk Gone. We carry it out of the garage, house or yard and haul it off in one trip.
The piles we take that carts do not
- Bags and boxes
Overflow bags, old boxes and a full garage of stuff nobody wants.
- Broken furniture
Chairs, tables, dressers and couches too far gone to donate.
- Remodel scraps
Old carpet, padding, drywall pieces and fixtures from a small project.
- Yard clutter
Old fencing, dead planters, tarps and brush piles.
- Mattresses & appliances
Bulky items many cart services leave behind.
- Whole-room cleanouts
A bedroom, a shed or a house, emptied and swept.
Not included: paint, chemicals, batteries and other hazardous waste. The Santa Clara County household hazardous waste program handles those by appointment.
Where the trash goes
San Jose has several public places that take household trash and bulky waste: Newby Island Landfill at the north edge of town, GreenWaste Zanker on Los Esteros Road, Guadalupe Landfill in south San Jose and the Valley Services C&D transfer station near S 7th Street. Each site sets its own rules, hours and fees, so we leave those off and point you to the official pages in our San Jose dump guide.
We sort as we load. Usable items head to donation centers (see the donation guide), metal and appliances are recycled where possible, and the rest goes to a landfill or transfer station.
Need a dumpster? Ask us. We’ll tell you whether we can help at your address or point you to your city’s franchise hauler.

Trash hauling or bulky pickup in San Jose
Garbage and trash hauling: bagged household trash that will not fit the cart, overflow after a move or remodel, cleanup debris, and green waste from a heavy trim. For garbage removal in San Jose, think bags, boxes and loose piles. Big trimming job? We also do yard waste removal.
Bulky junk pickup: sofas, dressers, appliances and mattresses are a different kind of haul. See our San Jose junk pickup page or furniture removal. Unsure which side your pile lands on? A photo to (408) 310-0246 sorts it out.
Trash removal in San Jose: questions
Can you pick up my regular weekly garbage?
No. Your cart is collected by the city's franchise hauler. We do one-time haul-offs, overflow and cleanouts.
My cart is full and I have extra bags. What now?
Check your hauler's rules for extra bags first. If it is more than a few bags, or it is not cart material, text us a photo.
What trash will you not take?
Hazardous waste: paint, chemicals, motor oil, batteries and pool chemicals. Santa Clara County's household hazardous waste program takes those by appointment.
Do you take trash from inside the house?
Yes. We carry it out of rooms, garages and yards, so nothing has to be dragged to the curb.
Do you haul construction debris?
Small remodel scraps, yes. For larger demolition or a full project, ask us what is workable at your address.
How do I get a quote for a one-time haul-off?
Text a photo of the pile to (408) 310-0246 or call. The quote is free.
