Monterey Dump Guide: Marina Landfill (ReGen) & Last Chance

Junk Gone hornet mascot with hard hat and shovel in front of a truck

The Marina landfill, the dump most people on the Monterey Peninsula use, is ReGen Monterey (formerly the Monterey Regional Waste Management District). It runs the Monterey Peninsula Landfill at 14201 Del Monte Blvd., Salinas, CA 93908. It’s off Hwy 1 at the Del Monte Blvd. exit (exit 412), about two miles north of Marina; the mailing address is in Marina, which is why people call it the Marina dump. Check ReGen’s site for closures before you go. ReGen can close for weather and posts alerts on its homepage.

Junk Gone is a private hauling company. We are not connected with ReGen Monterey, Last Chance Mercantile or any city or county.

Where is the Marina dump (ReGen Monterey)?

The Marina landfill is the Monterey Peninsula Landfill, run by ReGen Monterey, at 14201 Del Monte Blvd., Salinas, CA 93908. It’s off Hwy 1 at the Del Monte Blvd. exit (exit 412), about two miles north of Marina. The mailing address is in Marina, which is why most people call it the Marina dump.

For site details, see ReGen’s hours and directions page. Put the address into your map app before you leave, and give yourself extra time if you’re towing a trailer.

What time does ReGen Monterey open and close?

  • Scales (disposal, construction debris, recycling, organics): Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–4 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Recycling drop-off: Monday–Saturday 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics: Monday–Saturday 9 a.m.–4 p.m., (831) 264-6386
  • Main line: (831) 384-5313

What does the Marina landfill accept?

ReGen takes solid waste and construction and demolition debris, recycling, yard trimmings and food scraps, clean wood, drywall, concrete, appliances, mattresses, tires and e-waste (at the HHW area before the scales). Some loads need pre-approval (special waste) or extra fees, and the scale house classifies every load. See ReGen’s disposal fees page before you load up.

How to dispose of a mirror: tape an X across the glass and wrap it in a moving blanket, so it doesn’t break in your truck bed. Ask the scale house how it wants mirrors handled.

What can't go in the trash at ReGen Monterey?

Hazardous waste such as paint, chemicals, motor oil, batteries, fuels and pesticides can’t go in with regular trash, per CalRecycle. It goes to ReGen’s household hazardous waste (HHW) facility, and e-waste goes there too. It’s illegal to put e-waste in the trash. All loads are subject to hazardous waste load checking. Junk Gone doesn’t haul hazardous waste.

How much does it cost to dump at ReGen Monterey?

These are ReGen’s published fees (checked Oct 2026). They are subject to change, and the scale house’s classification of your load is final. See the official disposal fees page.

  • Solid waste basic rate (includes construction & demolition debris): $85 per ton, $20 minimum
  • Yard trimmings & food scraps: $54 per ton, $15 minimum
  • Clean dimensional lumber: $54 per ton, $15 minimum
  • Appliances without refrigerant: $10 each. With refrigerant: $20 each
  • Electronic waste: no charge (at the HHW area)

When a junk hauler makes more sense

A dump run is fine for a few bags. It gets harder with a couch, a fridge, a hot tub, a full garage or a house cleanout. We can haul the whole load, including old sheds and fences that are already taken down, and handle the dump trip for you.

We also work in Salinas and Watsonville: see our Salinas and Watsonville pages.
