Sometimes. A well-kept piano from a quality maker may find a new home with a school, church or community group, or through a local listing. But most old pianos are hard to give away: they need costly tuning and repairs, and many donation centers don’t accept them. If nobody wants it, removal is the practical way to get the space back.
Usually not. Curbside programs set weight limits that rule out pianos. Gilroy’s limit is 200 pounds per item, and Watsonville’s program lists pianos as not accepted at all. A piano also has to get to the curb first, which is the hard part. See your city’s rules on our furniture removal page.
