A hot tub is heavy, bulky and often hemmed in by a fence, a deck or a narrow side gate. In Marina, many spas sit on a pad in a small backyard, with sandy soil underfoot and little room for a crane or a lift.

The routine is simple. Ahead of our visit an electrician shuts off and disconnects the power, and the water gets drained. Then we saw the shell and frame into pieces small enough to carry, walk them through the gate and stack them in the trailer. Send pictures of the spa, the route and the gate to (408) 310-0246 and we will tell you what is possible.

What to have ready

  • Power disconnected

Your electrician shuts off and disconnects the circuit. We do not do electrical work.

  • Tub drained

Water drained and pointed away from the foundation and neighbors.

  • Clear path

Move planters, hoses and furniture off the route if you can.

  • Gate and access notes

Tell us the gate width, steps and any slope so we plan the carry.

Typical hot tub jobs around Marina

  • Backyard spa on a concrete pad

A homeowner in a newer subdivision has a cracked acrylic tub behind a narrow side gate. Power is off and the tub is drained; the crew cuts it in sections and carries it out.

  • Deck-mounted spa

An older house near the coast has a tub on a wooden deck that is being replaced. We remove the tub and leave the deck for the next contractor.

  • Inherited spa nobody wants

A new owner finds a worn-out tub in the yard. They share photos, we talk through access by text and then haul it.

Where the pieces go

Cut-up spa shells are bulky waste, and the main public landfill nearby is ReGen Monterey, off Highway 1 about two miles north of town. Metal frames and pumps are pulled out for scrap where possible. If you would rather handle disposal yourself, our Monterey dump guide explains the site, though a spa is hard to move uncut.

Chemicals from the tub, such as sanitizer or shock, are household hazardous waste and cannot ride in our trailer. ReGen Monterey has a drop-off for them.

Hot tub disposal Marina and spa removal Marina: what happens to the tub afterward

Hot tub disposal Marina homeowners ask about comes down to where the pieces end up. Many yards here have a pad behind a side gate with no room for a crane, so the tub is cut into sections on site and carried out by hand. The steel frame, pump and heater come out first so the metal can go to recycling where possible. The shell, foam and skirting that cannot be recycled are hauled to the proper local facility, usually ReGen Monterey off Highway 1, about two miles north of town.

Spa removal Marina households request ranges from an acrylic spa on a patio near the dunes to a plug-in model on a deck, and now and then a swim spa. A swim spa is longer and heavier, so send photos and measurements and we will say plainly whether it is a job we can take. A spa built into concrete or into a deck is demolition work, which we do not do; a tub that sits on top of its pad is the kind we handle.

Answers on hot tub removal in Marina

Do you disconnect the hot tub?

No. Have an electrician disconnect the power before we arrive. We handle the cutting and hauling.

Do I have to drain it first?

Yes. Please drain the tub and direct the water away from structures.

What if the only way out is a narrow side gate?

Often that works, since the shell is cut into pieces. Give us the gate width and a picture.

Will you tear out the pad or deck?

Our focus is the spa itself. Slab and deck demolition are separate work, so tell us what you have.

Do you take inflatable spas too?

Yes. Show us a photo and it is priced like any other load.

How soon can you remove it?

Send photos and we will offer the nearest opening, based on the schedule and the work involved.
