A hot tub in Scotts Valley often lives on a back deck among the trees, down a side path or behind a locked gate on a sloped lot. Getting it out means working around redwood roots, narrow walkways and the weight of a tub that holds a few hundred pounds even when it is empty.

We do the heavy part. Your side is simple: have the tub drained and its power disconnected by you or an electrician, as we do not handle electrical work. Then we cut it into sections, carry it out and haul it away. Send photos of the tub and the path from the yard to the street, and we give a free quote with upfront pricing.

What we remove

  • Acrylic and fiberglass spas

Standard portable and built-in tubs, cut or lifted out depending on access.

  • Old cabinets and covers

The skirt, cover and steps that go with the tub.

  • Equipment

Pumps, heaters and plumbing pieces once they are disconnected.

  • Decking and platforms

Small pads or decks that need to come out with the tub, if you ask.

Hot tub disposal Scotts Valley: what happens after the tub leaves your yard

Hot tub disposal Scotts Valley owners worry about is the part after the tub leaves the deck. We cut the shell into sections on site, load them, and pull the metal (frame, motor and pump parts) aside for recycling where possible. What cannot be recycled goes to a permitted local facility rather than being left anywhere it should not be. Covers, foam skirts and steps ride in the same load.

Spa removal Scotts Valley: portable, built-in and swim spas

Spa removal Scotts Valley yards call for comes in three types. A portable plug-in spa on a pad can often be lifted out in sections, a built-in spa set into a deck is cut free, and a swim spa is much larger. For a swim spa, send photos and measurements and we will tell you honestly whether we can take it.

Typical hot tub jobs around Scotts Valley

  • Spa on a redwood deck

A tub sits on a raised deck with a narrow stair. Once the owner has drained it and the power is off, we cut it into sections and carry them down to the trailer.

  • Backyard tub behind a gate

A townhome-style yard has a side gate barely wider than a door. We measure first, section the shell, and bring it out without damaging the fence.

  • Tub left by a previous owner

A newly bought home has an unused spa and a cracked cover. The new owner wants the corner of the yard back, so we clear it in one visit.

Where a removed hot tub goes

We separate metal and recyclable pieces where possible and take the rest to a permitted facility. The spa shell is bulky and does not fit in regular carts, and GreenWaste’s bulky program is generally aimed at furniture and small appliances, so ask them before assuming a tub qualifies.

The county’s Buena Vista Landfill near Watsonville and the Ben Lomond Transfer Station do take residents’ self-haul loads with proof of residency, but a tub rarely fits a standard truck bed, which is why owners hand it to us. Chemicals from the tub should go to the county’s free household hazardous waste program for residents, not into our trailer.

Where we remove hot tubs

We remove spas from across Scotts Valley, including the wooded streets near Mt. Hermon Road and hillside yards off Glenwood Drive. For the wider area, see our page on junk removal around Santa Cruz County. Our Scotts Valley junk removal page covers the whole city.

Scotts Valley FAQ: Hot Tub Removal

Do you disconnect the electrical?

No. The tub should be disconnected and the power turned off at the breaker by you or an electrician before we arrive. We handle the removal.

Does the tub have to be drained?

Yes, please drain it. Water makes the tub far heavier and harder to cut.

Can you remove a tub from a deck?

Usually yes. We section the tub on the deck and carry the pieces down. Send a photo of the deck and the stairs.

What if the gate is narrow?

Tell us the width. If a tub does not fit through, we cut it into pieces that do.

Will you take the deck or concrete pad?

We can take a small deck section if you ask. Large demolition is a separate job, so mention it when you text.

How do I get a price?

Text photos of the tub and the access path. You receive a free quote with upfront pricing.
