Watsonville does offer a free bulky item pickup, and it is worth using when it fits. A resident with a city garbage utility bill gets one pickup per calendar year, for up to three items, scheduled about 48 hours ahead. Items cannot be larger than roughly 4 by 5 by 4 feet.
It does not cover apartment complexes or businesses, and it leaves out refrigerators, air conditioners, pianos, cast-iron tubs, anything over 100 pounds, e-waste, garbage, construction material, yard waste, and mirrors or glass. We are the other option. We do the carrying from wherever the item is, take any number of pieces, and do not need a city bill.
City program, drop-off center, or a crew
The city pickup is set at the curb and is limited to three items per year. The Waste and Recycling Drop-off Center on Harvest Drive takes mattresses and other items from city residents with an address check and a tarped load, and vehicle and trailer length cannot pass 30 feet. The city landfill is on San Andreas Road.
Outside city limits in Freedom, Corralitos and Pajaro, those city options are not open to you. Our crew picks up from inside the house, brings down stairs and takes the load to a facility or donation center that accepts it.
